Save the Arctic – Concert for a Cause
Concert for a cause fundraiser
Help Save the Arctic! Join us for an afternoon of live music and entertainment to raise funds for Greenpeace Norway’s Save the Arctic campaign.
We are excited to present the musicians who will be performing live at this event:
2nd Class People
DJ B. Maloney
Along with live music, you will have the chance to experience the Arctic via Greenpeace Norway’s virtual reality set-up. Our hope is, once you experience the Arctic, you will understand Greenpeace Norway’s desire to protect it.
An entry fee of 200Kr, as well as the sale of raffle tickets/lodd for some really cool items, generously donated, will go directly to Greenpeace Norway for use in their fight to Save the Arctic.
Smelteverket will have food and drinks for purchase so you can sit back, eat and drink, and groove to the sounds of the musical talent.
Stay tuned for more information as the event draws near! Let’s do our part to help fight climate change….for our future and our children’s future.
For the first time in 20 years, the Norwegian government is opening a new oil frontier in the Arctic, escalating the pressure on the climate and putting homes and families in danger globally. We believe this new round of licensing violates the Norwegian constitution and the Paris Agreement.
Greenpeace Norway and Nature & Youth are taking the Norwegian government to court in a historic lawsuit with proceedings beginning in November. They are challenging the government’s decision to give new licenses to drill oil in the Arctic Barents Sea by awarding blocks in the 23rd licensing round. Statoil began drilling 5-7 wells this summer – one of them is the world’s northernmost offshore well.
The climate lawsuit has a solid foundation in legal competence and many good supporters; however, taking the Norwegian government’s decision to hand out new oil licenses in the Arctic is a costly business. Greenpeace needs to fund their legal team and fund a smart and wide-reaching public awareness campaign.
